Information for families
“Guided by faith, strengthened in community, soaring towards success.”
At St John’s Catholic Primary School, our eagle crest inspired by the symbol of our patron saint, represents our faith, our strength, and our shared belief that every child has the potential to soar.
At the heart of our story is the eagle —fearless, watchful, uplifted. It’s more than a symbol; it reflects our commitment to helping every child feel safe, supported and inspired to grow. Just as the eagle rises on strong wings, St John’s nurtures each child’s journey in faith, learning and personal growth. We see their strengths, celebrate their uniqueness, and walk alongside them — helping them to rise with confidence, purpose and joy.
Each morning, when our children walk through the gates, they enter a place where they are known, valued and loved. Ofsted (October 2024) recognised this special atmosphere, noting that “pupils thrive in the school’s close-knit community and build strong relationships with their peers and staff.” That sense of belonging is at the heart of everything we do and it’s echoed in our recent Section 48 Catholic School Inspection, which found that “the school’s mission is lived out in every aspect of school life.”
The school has a lovely community feel, I feel every child is recognised as an individual. There have been opportunities to learn outside of the classroom with daily lunchtime clubs, workshops and school trips which have contributed to making learning engaging and memorable! Enabling year 6 pupils the opportunity to be pupil leaders has given my daughter to opportunity to be a responsible mentor, learn patience and have the opportunity to speak publicly in assemblies! The school have been supportive and accommodating in meeting my daughter’s specific needs, from the SENCO to her class teacher and adults around the school. Both my daughters are happy to attend school everyday with a smile on their faces!
Our promise to you.......
Faith. Family. Flourish.
Where Catholic values and community spirit help every child belong and thrive.
Our mission — “Learning and Living God’s Truth in Love” — shapes daily life here at St John’s. Our Catholic faith guides everything we do and gives our community its warmth and purpose. As Ofsted said, “pupils understand and live up to the school’s well-embedded values.”
Those values help our children to flourish — not only in their learning but as caring, confident young people who make a difference to those around them.
Educating the Whole Child.
Nurturing hearts, minds, and character beyond the classroom.
We believe that education should nurture the whole child — heart, mind and spirit. Our children are encouraged to be curious, creative and compassionate. Learning here extends beyond the classroom: through clubs, music, sport and leadership opportunities every child is supported to discover their strengths and passions.
A School That Feels Like Home.
Warm relationships, proud traditions and community spirit helping every child belong and thrive.
Visitors often tell us that St John’s “just feels different.” It’s true — there’s something special about the warmth of our community. Our parents, staff and pupils work closely together and celebrate each other’s successes. We are proud of the kindness and care that define our school family.
A Bright Future in a Brand-New School.
Inspiring learning spaces built for the next generation.
As we look ahead to the opening of our new school building, we are filled with excitement. This modern, purpose-built space will give our children every opportunity to explore, learn and grow in an inspiring environment. It reflects our ambition and our belief that St John’s children deserve the very best.
Great Staff, Greater Opportunities.
Dedicated staff, powerful partnerships, and a culture that lifts everyone higher.
Our dedicated staff go above and beyond for our pupils every day. Their passion, professionalism and care shine through in all they do. As part of the All Saints Catholic Academy Trust, we share expertise and continue to build on our success.
Like the eagle on our school badge, our children are learning to spread their wings — to aim high, to live with faith and purpose, and to soar with confidence into the world.
I have chosen St John's for all three of my children because it offers an educational environment that incorporates the catholic values of love, kindness and community. While educational achievement is a key factor, what's also key is being part of a community that instil good values and St John's achieves this by incorporating the catholic values in their 'everyday'. I’m very excited about the move to the new school building and grounds which will provide a great and ‘green’ space with all the necessary facilities needed for the children to learn and play. I’m particularly excited about all the outdoor opportunities which will become available with access to ‘all weather’ surfaces and space for horticultural exploration. Having experienced the old building, the temporary building and now moving into the new building I can clearly see that the care, concern and provision for the children’s wellbeing has remained consistent throughout and is the living legacy of our school.
